Windows 7 is surely a delight for users who are thirst to watch everything transparent. With increasing applications for windows 7, code named 'Vienna' unfortunately takes up more time for boot as it needs to load many startup apps and processes. In this article I will teach you to reduce your boot time in windows 7 by upto 50%.
What do you need to do this?
I have tried this way and certainly it helped me, before tweak: 1:14.678min and after tweak: 0:57.456min. Before Starting this method, I recommend you to record your boot time of your system.
Click on Start and type 'cmd'. Then press Ctrl + Shift + Enter. This will run it with Administrator privileges. Now, start typing or copy this:
You can re-enable Boot Manager by changing the last word to yes:

- Download and install Soluto : A freeware application which lets you know more about boot, and allows you to know which apps are slowing your boot.
- Measure the time with this app, it comes up with list of apps that might slow your boot.
- Ask yourself : DO you really need this process? Uncheck the process, and now you have the opportunity to control your system process.
2.Using 'msconfig' Utility
- Use Full power of your Multiple Core processor
- Press Windows button on keyboard, and start typing 'msconfig'. A dialog box opens.
- Next Boot > Advanced options > Check Number of processors > Choose max number, say 4 if a quad core processor.
- This decreases your boot time by considerable amount.
- Remove unwanted apps and services from startup
- Click Windows button, and start typing 'services'. And check 'Hide all Microsoft Services'. See what services are Running. Uncheck every service that’s not needed.
3.Removing Windows Boot Manager
Try this Only if you have more than single operating system. This disable's the Boot manager for a quick boot.Click on Start and type 'cmd'. Then press Ctrl + Shift + Enter. This will run it with Administrator privileges. Now, start typing or copy this:
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu no
Paste it in Command Prompt Window (Right-clicking and select Paste). Then press enter and you are done.You can re-enable Boot Manager by changing the last word to yes:
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu yes
Other Tips: - Have less fonts in your system, as this slows the system download as it need to load every other font in the initial boot.
- Use a Nice Anti-virus which consumes less of RAM, I recommend Microsoft Security essentials, its simple and mingles well with Windows 7. You can also try Eset Nod32, McAfee Security.
- Do Regular Scanning for Viruses, Web-roots and Spywares. Regular Disk Cleanup, Defragmentation and Scandisk is also recommended.
