Socializing has taken a revolutionary turn in the last few years. The range of age for social networking has double folded itself in the recent past. Being it 13 year old boy or 53 year old professional, everybody has surrendered themselves to social networking websites. The websites like facebook, twitter and Google plus have blanketed the youth and seniors alike. Some old social networking websites such as Orkut, Hi5, etc proved to be a thrilling revolution in their times, but in the recent developments, the websites which have standed out are Facebook, twitter and Google plus. These 3 have played a pivotal role in the advancement of social networking sites in this era. All 3 have their own deep importance, but the question is whether the 3 can be compared? Here are some arguments to discuss the subject:
Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus: What are they and how they started?
Facebook has been the eldest among the three which laid its foundation in 2004, dilapidating Orkut and reaching to the pinnacle of social networking. Facebook has become the biggest hit in the millennium.
Twitter focuses more on micro blogging, though social networking is also an integral part of the website but remains to be the secondary concern for twitter. Google plus is the newest invention in terms of social networking, it was started to hit facebook down and give it a fair competition.
Comparison
However, all three have their own specialized areas of working but here are some comparisons we have brought out. Facebook encourages groups listing and enables the users to create their own groups which ultimately became a big hit, however, google plus and twitter doesn’t support groups. Another feature which is missing from twitter is its inability to let the users comment, it has made many people think that twitter is arid and waste of time in contrast to facebook and google plus which encourage comment threads. Another factor to compare among the three is that in Facebook, the user names are not headed with symbols like “+” or “@” which is a common feature in twitter and google plus.
In facebook, the news feed enables the user to see what their friends have published; on the other hand twitter allows the user to see what the people they follow have published and Google plus enables the user to see what the people in his circle publish. The feature that stands out in Twitter is that It can serve as an accessible profile or a private one, on the contrary facebook and twitter lack this feature.
Conclusion
All the three social networking giants are different from each other in some perspective but they are jacks of their own trades. For example, Twitter serves the best in terms of discussing trends and there is no littering of unnecessary trash comments. Facebook specializes in socializing part and relationship strengthening whereas Google Plus aces in its popular feature “hangout” in which the user can do the real time chatting with friends or even strangers, apart from this Google Plus serves a higher standard of security for user profiles.
