The retailing magnet Walmart, has launched an app ShopyCat which checks the profiles of people you would like to present based on their Facebook use and then suggests a gift appropriate to your friend’s tastes. Walmart has keenly observed how people often find it difficult to find a best gift as they really don’t understand the recipient’s tastes and has designed this app.
The Shopycat operates in two modes. First it collects all the details of the recipient. The app then analyses the recipient’s profiles and Facebook posts. After this the software shows up a number of products that are ready for purchase via Walmart.com.
The app also refers you to similar gift sites such as RedEnvelope and ThinkGeek. For example, if a user is planning to buy a gift for a friend who commented that he/she liked the movie “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, the app will recommend the DVD of that movie as the best gift. However, if the software is not clear of the recipient’s preferences it will suggest neutral products such as gift vouchers.
Pinterest
Pinterest is no longer limited for planning weddings but also for planning great gifts for your friends. So if you’re planning for a cool way to eliminate the stress out of best gift giving then take the help of Pinterest. Pinterest allows you to organize your gift ideas using Pinterest private boards. You have to install the “Pin It” bookmarklet on your web browser.
