WordPress is the most commonly used content management system and is the backbone of numerous websites, blogs and web pages. It’s easy to add images in your posts if you are using as your blog host or content management system. Images can be inserted directly into the pages and posts. Below are few steps that would guide on how to insert images effectively in WordPress.

Inserting while editing or creating posts


Go to the post>> Add new or add new pages>> or open a post if it needs to be edited. Keep the cursor exactly where the image has to be inserted. A media icon is displayed in the tool bar present above the post, click on it. The files can be browsed for uploading an image or in the latest version of WordPress images can be directly dragged and inserted in the place where it is wanted. It should be noted that this drag and drop function will only be available in the browsers that features HTML5 upload supports. This feature is available in the latest version of Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari, the older version will have the ‘browse and select the file’ option.

Once the uploading or inserting function is finished, an option will be given to edit your image and make some settings before saving it in to the blog post or web page. The settings will be as follows:

Image Title: A unique title to the image can be provided, which will be displayed as text whenever the mouse hover will be done on the image.

Image Caption: This test will serve as an alternate text also and will be displayed just below the image, underneath it.

Image description:
This text will be displayed along with the image on the dashboard and attachment of a blog.

Link: A link can inserted along with the image which will be redirected to the page you want. For this click on the link icon and paste the full URL which has to be inserted. A title relevant to link can also be given.

Alignment of the Image: You will decide where you want to place the images. Image can be aligned to Left, center or right, according to the length of the post.

Image Size: After uploading an image all the above adjustments are being asked and images size is also one of them. Generally you have 4 sizes to choose from and when the image is altered in size WordPress does not just resize the images it creates a new version of the image so that it does not looks distorted or low quality. The sizes are given below each label of the image. These dimensions can be defined by going into Administration>> Settings>> media subpanels. You can choose the size of the thumbnail, medium sized image or large sized image.
